It has been quite a while since I have made any updates to the site. We are in the process of looking at various festivals
internationally in which to submit Back to Brisbane for consideration. It would be exciting to see it on the big screen later
this fall and definitely in 2010. So more info on that front later.
Also, Les Howard, an Australian educator in Michigan is looking
to show excerpts to students from B2B for critical literacy on the stolen generation. We just had a great conversation and I
am excited to see the educational component to this documentary. Hopefully this will lead to more contact from educators around
the States. If anyone is interested in showing excerpts for learning purposes please contact me directly. At this point
we are not releasing a full length educational DVD.
Pamela is very busy creating artwork in her studio and has been working on getting
up her website soon which will be very exciting. It will have pictures of her artwork and I believe will have information about
her exhibitions and appearances.
She was also recently in Orlando visiting her son's family. David and Caroline now have 2 children.
Unfortunately I was not able to make it down there for a visit this time.

Dr. Vivian Vasquez talks about "Back to Brisbane"
and the 7th Wave Pictures short "An Artist's Journey" in her book "Getting Beyond "I Like the Book" - Creating Space for Critical
Literacy in K-6 Classrooms 2nd Edition. The book published in 2009 is available at www.reading.org and also listed on Amazon.
I don't have my copy yet so I need to get one soon.

I made an amazing find on ebay after doing some research on Pamela's
adoptive father, Roy Paget. He too was an artist, and I found a watercolor painting he painted from probably the 30's or 40's.
Her son David made arrangements for purchase of the painting and it is on its way to Pamela, who is very excited about the painting.
I will be happy to get a still image of the painting that I can now put into the documentary.

Pamela visited her son, daughter-in-law,
and granddaughter in Orlando, Florida. I made the voyage down for a couple of days to spend some time with her and also show
her a cut of the film. She is very pleased with the film and is anxious to see it when it is completed. So are we!
Editing is moving along and the majority of the story is there. We are working on getting some more images and archival footage
to incorporate into the film.

Dr. Vivian Vasquez is an educator in Maryland who is writing a book on children's literature
due out later this summer. She found out about Pamela's mural painting in East Atlanta, GA and is including a piece about Pamela.
We are excited that there will also be mention of the movie "Back to Brisbane" in her book.
The premise of the book is ways of using
children's literature in combination with other 'texts' such as art as
a way of providing young children with a richer more thoughtful
look at various topics and issues. The section on Pamela will be set on power, control, and identity.

There has not been a whole lot to report. The film is still moving forward and with an office move we are trying to setup so we can finish a rough cut. This is yet another rough cut, but over period of time we feel the film is now much stronger. Our goal is to have a finished film by end of year or January that we can submit to film festivals.
If you are interested
in Pamela’s artwork please email backtobrisbane@7thwavepictures.com for information. Much of her artwork is located in

which was the fiscal sponsor for “Back to
